Venue and Local Transportation

  • Please note that the Ionian University is a multi-island Ιnstitution. MESEA 2026 will take place on the island of Zakynthos (also known as Zante), Department of Environment, not in Corfu, where the Rector’s Office is located.
  • We strongly recommend booking accommodation in Zakynthos (or Zante) Town area. There are no hotels within walking distance of the campus. However, a free shuttle bus will connect the town area with the campus. The schedule will be shared by late March. 
  • We have secured  discounted rates for private transfers. Relevant details will be made available shortly.  
  • Please note that a private transfer is the most convenient option for reaching Zakynthos (or Zante) Town from the airport and for returning to the airport at the end of your stay.  

Travel information

Flights from European cities (June)

During June, there are numerous low-cost flights to Zakynthos from major European airports. You may wish to consult flight comparison platforms (such as eSky) to explore available options.

Direct flights from Athens

Zakynthos is connected to Athens by direct daily flights operated by Aegean Airlines and Sky Express. Flight duration is approximately one hour.

Bus and ferry connection from Athens

An alternative option is the intercity KTEL bus service from Athens to Zakynthos, which includes a ferry crossing from the port of Killini. Several routes operate daily, and the total journey time is approximately six hours.

Timetables and further details will be confirmed later in Winter (or early Spring) via KTEL Zakynthos.

Accommodation

The conference has quota reservations at the following hotels, each located at the heart of Zante Town.

The delegates will get an affordable conference rate for their bookings. Booking codes are necessary. Please find them listed separately below for each hotel.

The cut-off date for hotel bookings for the lowered rate is April 15, 2026, except for Diana Hotel and TRAVELOG VS for which no cut-off date applies. 

Please note that bookings are subject to availability, as June is close to the peak tourist season.

Guests who wish to make a reservation at Strada Marina need to mention that they are participating in the MESEA conference. No specific booking code is required.
